about.
Ellie Irish is a third-year student at Miami University. She is studying Emerging Technology in Business and Design with a double minor in Communication Design and Studio Art. When she was in high school in her hometown, of Rochester, Michigan, Irish found a love for music and movies and the design process for making art. Directors like Greta Gerwig and Wes Anderson opened Irish’s mind to all the possibilities in film. Their distinctive visual style and quirky storytelling left a lasting mark on Irish's artistic sensibilities. Upon joining the yearbook staff, Irish honed in on her design skills. As she assumed the role of Yearbook Editor, the experience drove her toward her academic path as an ETBD student at Miami. Irish's passion for graphic design and UX design fuels her ambition to craft projects of genuine significance, aspiring to leave a lasting impact on the future once she graduates.
artist statement.
My subject matter is people, whether it is in the realm of photography or design. My goal is to capture life and how people put meaning to it. I have a passion for immersive user experiences and impactful visual storytelling. My creative journey is an exploration of the intersection between aesthetics and functionality. Within my designs, I seek to evoke emotions, spark curiosity, and convey messages that resonate with people. For me, every design I make should describe a narrative. Every color, font, and element is a deliberate choice, aimed at creating a lasting visual impact on people. Art has a lasting impact on everyone, and I don’t only want to create something that provokes thought but to create something that assists with life. Design is essential to survival and a good design can make all the difference. We need good design to effectively communicate, for things to have a purpose, and aid people in everyday life. I became a designer because of the ways I can use my creativity to develop something that will mean something to someone. Even if it is just one.
